As I drove by this graffiti riddled, inspirational banner hanging over an under privileged high school, I thought, "hmmm perhaps we should stop selling such delusions to our under achieving, spoiled youth."
At one point parents have the responsibility to tell their kid, "Perhaps you should try something else..."

So stop selling your kids a pile of crap. Santa, The Easter Bunny, The Tooth Fairy...we love making up stories to avoid answering the millions of questions we'd have to face from our curious children.

So to shut them up, we feed them chocolate bunnies, give them money for their teeth, and speak of over weight men frantically sledding around the earth, sliding down disgusting rat infested chimney's, somehow managing to avoid all the naughty kids, whilst generously rewarding the nice kids...before sunrise???

We shut them up with threats and lies and lead them on with false hope.

Sure there are miracles, Christopher Reeves moving his fingers, Elizabeth Smart found alive...but your 600 pound daughter squeezing into a ballet outfit isn't one of them.

There are some dreams that should simply remain a dream. A dream is something you should never reach for. Because when you reach them, you my realize it was never worth it.

What if it's your dream to meet, I dunno... Madonna. For 20 years you do everything you can to meet her and when you do, she's having a really bad day is a complete bitch towards you... how's your dream now?

The grass is always greener. Maybe it's your dream to be an actor...you give it your all, you become a famous actor and suddenly you can't go anywhere in public, can't trust anyone, you become depressed, you get older, no longer viable... just work on being happy with who you are. If you are not enough without it, you'll never be enough with it.

But if you absolutely must follow your dream, be prepared to be disappointed. A dream is best left alone. With every wish there comes a curse and blah blah blah.
