Flier, arrested after incident in air, awarded $27.5M

A Texas jury has awarded $27.5 million to a woman who says Southwest Airlines flight attendants had her arrested in 2003 because they were overly aggressive in enforcing post-9/11 security.

The case against Samantha Carrington, a U.S. citizen born in Iran, was dropped the day after her arrest when an FBI agent investigating the matter came to her defense. Nevertheless, the Los Angeles woman says, she is now subjected to heightened security while flying and cannot clear her name from watch lists...

WOW!!! Thank you so very much, Samantha Carrington. Thank you for doing your part in helping to squeeze the airlines dry. Next time my airfare goes up, I'll remember to blow you a kiss. Also, thank you for putting doubt in the minds of our security officials who are now 'afraid' to do their jobs for fear of punitive repercussions.

Question for you: What will happen when a terrorist of Middle East decent hi-jacks a plane.. a plane that one of your friend's or family members are on? Will you sue the airline for not properly interrogating each passenger before boarding?

You're familiar with Israel right? you know the country that Iran wants to wipe off the map.. they are quite happy to practice racial profiling and you know what? it works!! El-Al has never been taken over by terrorists. So until we can get over ourselves and lose our ego, maybe then we'll be able to make a dent in the war on terrorism.

Sure Samantha, it sucks, you're on a watch list... maybe you were a bit embarrassed.. even outraged.. but 27 million dollars? give me a break. This type of behavior is holding America hostage. Everyone is too afraid to do their jobs because someone's feelings may be hurt.

Now of course there are 3 sides to every story, but if no bones were broken or people died, why the 27 million? Hardship? Stress? You're a professor, shouldn't there be a little more reasoning and understanding involved? How about free flights for you and your family for life?

27 million? you can buy your own plane and never worry about security again!!!
