Over the last year thanx to you, my perverted loyal readers I've been able to make a bit of cash off of all the shitty banners you see all over this place.  And with that cash, I've been able to give it away to various charities.

And how do they thank me?  By giving my information away to every other charitable organization across America.  As a result, I get at least 2 calls a day from operators asking for hand outs, and all around dinner time too. 

It started with COPS and MIA.  I mean, what better way to stay on the good side of the law than to have a nice 'I SUPPORT COPS' sticker on the back of your car...little did I know that when I sent them my $30, I'd be opening the door or rather, flood gate for everyone else.  I've never had any money to give, so I was new to all of this.  I thought these people were nice... 

So now I'm in for, COPS, Enviromental Defense Fund, Humane Society and the ASPCA...and 3 times a year I give to the LA mission.  In essence, that $30 I was giving to COPS is now being divided among all the other charities they gave my info to. 

Now yesterday, I get an important looking document in the mail.  It wasn't from the IRS or Immigration, so I knew it wasn't critical...  I open the envelope and sure enough, it's a letter from PETA along with a whole packet of return address labels as a gift for my consideration.  Marking the 3rd such package I've received from other organizations. 

Basically, PETA is using their member's donations to pay for address lables for POTENTIAL new contributors.  Here's an idea, keep your gifts, your keychains your little stuffed animals for donations of $15 or more and give more of the money to the foundation you say you are trying to help.  Of a $20 donation, after receiving your 'free' gift... how much money do you think is actually being used to help a polar bear?  You'd be better off flying to the North Pole and feeding them yourself.

So before you give your hard earned money away to help, whomever you feel needs helping, make sure you know exactly where it's going.
