So, anyway... I was thinking about what he has recently said on Oprah, "I am just doing what anybody would do in my position." (Speaking on his world righteousness)
In a perfect world, he's absolutely right. But in this world, sad to say, he is one of the only "influential pop voices left."

Who goes to Africa to take on world debt and AIDS relief? WHO? yeah, that's exactly it... WHO and Bono. (World Health Organization...d'uh)

It's one thing to give 2% percent of your 20 million dollar a year salary to your favorite relief fund and feel good about yourself... but to be accountable for what you say? to risk your career, your reputation to be on the front line screaming in our faces to make a change... nobody does that.

At the beginning of, "Where the Streets Have No Name" Bono mumbles, "What can I give back to God for all the blessing he has poured unto me?"

Is Val Kilmer asking that? How about, Shannon Elizabeth...nope she's too busy buying gas masks for her pets... Marilyn Manson...

We must do the absolute best with what we have been given. What if...what if there was an after life, and what if in that after life we had to account for every shitty and hurtful thing we did...forever and ever? Wouldn't it then be worth it to live a decent life right now? wouldn't it be worth it to be a little kind and grateful. Wouldn't it be worth it to live to your potential? Anna Nicole Smith...?

How? How do we get out of this mess? Looking around in LA, we don't.

Are You Bono?The other day I over heard an actress tell a story of how a, "fan" of hers was all excited over meeting her and getting her autograph...

Just then I wondered, What have you done? What have you done to warrant "fans" getting all, "out of control" just from seeing you?

It's 2003 and there are no more secrets. During the past couple of years the world has gone through a major awakening period, and while most of us have gone back to our self indulgent ways, some are continuing the good fight.

Some are using everything they have to bring a sense normalcy and respect to the human race. What are you doing?

While most celebrities bask in the glory of their fame and shopping sprees, others are using their power to make a difference in the world. Not just a difference among their friends and family, but a difference among the needy and sick. A difference among the people that no one cares about.

The situation is as confusing as the pay differential between actors, teachers and nurses. While one profession learns their lines... the other actually teaches how to read them.

Yet we brush aside the need for nurses and teachers for a glimpse of Collin Farrell's black book.

So in this Monkey's humble opinion, each and every celebrity must get their head's out of their ass' and do something other than perpetuate their own career.

With all your money and star power, unless you are doing something to help the world, then you're no better than the crooks and politicians that created this mess - because like a politician you're only in it for your own ego.

And please don't think that making a movie helps the world.
