I know, what a great way to start off your day...but imagine my horror last night as I was watching FOX LA and they reported on the Westland Hallmark Meat Co. in Chino.

If you want to be outraged and sickened (and really, who doesn't)  watch the video here it shows employees of the Hallmark Meat Co. using fork lifts to plow into injured or sick cows, forcing them into slaughter shoots.  Oh, by the way, Westland Hallmark Meats is the largest supplier of ground beef. 

The video, presented by the Humane Society of the United States at a news conference Wednesday morning, showed workers at Hallmark Meat Packing using forklifts to pick up and roll animals too weak to stand and forcing sick or weak cows to stand by shooting high-pressure water sprays into their nostrils or repeatedly shocking them with electricity.

On their website, Steve Mendell, President of the slaughter house, pleas with anyone who'll listen (read) that his slaughter house is safe and he reassures (anyone who'll listen) that his company slaughters cows in a healthy way.  He even has vets on the scene to make sure that when they kill these animals they do it kindly...

Hey Mengele, I have an idea, let's round up your family, hog tie them and see what fun we can have with broom sticks...we can poke 'em in the eye, laugh at them...and please, if you have any retarded or sick children that would make it much more entertaining. 

You run a slaughter house, where the final objective is to slaughter cows, what, in your mad cow diseased mind makes you think that a blurb on your web page is going to make a difference? 

Please, if you are reading this, boycott Westland Hallmark Meats and buy organic.  You'll have better tasting meat and a better sense of karma.
