TagsJamie Lynn Spears, Pregnant, USA Today |
Not sure if this is a coincidence, but a day or so after Jamie Lynn announced she was pregnant, USA Today published an article about the growing US population. So rather than poke fun of Jamie for being another backwoods pregnant teenager, we should be thanking her.
"Many policymakers and decision-makers in Europe, whether they talk about it or not, are envious of the U.S. fertility rate … because our social security issues will not come as fast as theirs," Butz says. Basically we're the only industrialized nation with a positive birth rate. This is good because it helps our economy grow. It prolongs the failure of our Social Security for another few years, and more young kids means we can look after the elderly. But before the European policy makers jump the envy gun, they need to consider exactly who is having these kids. They obviously haven't been reading PEOPLE magazine - because if they did, they'd realize that more, in this case certainly does not mean better. CommentsThere are no comments on this item. |
