Because she just got let go from Melrose Place.  She was written out of the the script in episode 12.  Wow - I'm surprised the show even made it to 12 episodes.  But hey, if you debase your audience enough, they'll come back for more.  But don't worry about Ashlee, she has her loving husband's mega music career to fall back on.
