How Do You Make 10 Million Bucks Over Night...?

Release one of your best albums of all time from the comfort of your own kitchen and invite users to download it and, 'pay what you want'.   (plus a .45 download fee)

That's what Radiohead did with, 'in rainbows'  They set up a site, inrainbows.com - You can go there, and download a .zip of 10 gorgeously penned tunes. (As if you'd expect nothing less from Radiohead).  Needless to say, record execs are shivering in their alligator boots.  Who needs to worry about distribution, marketing, blah blah.  All you do is post the release date on your free blog, then hit 'upload' and watch your digits increase. 

Now of course if you're reading this for the first time here at SM, you really need to re-consider your music source because it's a well documented fact that while I know good music when I hear it, I suck at writing about it.  

I'm a huge fan of Radiohead, in fact, I'm a dead head of radioheads... and in rainbows is their best work since OK computer.  Sure, their little segue off into Kid A, Amnesiac...(they're most famous album) was cute and all, but I'm of the opinion that they are at their best when Thom does all but rip his heart from his chest throw it on the floor (his kitchen floor) for everyone to laugh at.  He lets you.  He put himself out there as a lesson of heartache and yearning.  Of course, he'd be pretty miserable without the rest of his band, so Jonny et al are always around to coax him from the edge - or leave him on it...

The album is filled with its usual sound effects and tweaks but nowhere near as 'techno' as we've come to expect from them over the last few years.  House of Cards and All I Need are stand outs but I'm sure over time (in a day or so) there will be more.
