TagsIcky Thump, White Stripes |
Jack is back where he belongs. Sure, The Ranconteurs were cute and we all need a break from the mundane, but water seeks its own level, and The White Stripes 6th Studio Album, Icky Thump is most definitely on the level.
The Stripes are one of the dirtiest, freshest and greasiest sounds in music today. We should all be very thankful that Rock 'n' Roll is safe for another year. I read various reports that Icky Thump was a departure of sorts for the band, a different sound even - but seeing as they've already covered every style of music on their last albums, by definition 'different' is, The White Stripes. Who else in pop music can write the words 'gaily' (Prickly Thorn) or 'obtuse' (Doorbell) into a song. Each track is completely unique from the next, but together as an album it all makes sense, from the Mariachi sounding, 'Conquest' to Meg's Linda Blair-esque, St. Andrew. Lyrically and musically the album is well worth the $10 download. June 19, 2007, Warner Bros. Records released Icky Thump, the sixth album by The White Stripes and the follow-up to 2005’s Get Behind Me Satan. It’s the band’s first record since leaving V2 Records.
