Eh. You know. Go ahead, it's "The Simpsons." But man oh man, this is one that would've been likely hitting the mark with a much sharper arrow had only it been made about 13 years ago, back when Homer was telling a gun shop owner "I'd kill you if I had my gun" after the guy tells him there's an application to get one.

Now, we're left with cuddly humor for the most part, most of which we're laughing at because, hey, it's the Simpsons, how could ya not love 'em? Too bad this is all years behind "South Park," that other animated show that came after "The Simpsons" did and made a movie of its own before this one, one with laughs that could be wrenched from people who hadn't ever even seen the show.

 

Whatever, not to make it sound too lame, there are a good handful of actual laugh-out-loud moments, one in particular with Homer and an Eskimo woman, but now I've probably already built that part up enough to where it won't be that funny to you now, so screw it, this thing really isn't that funny. It looks like it's gonna be with the energy it brings on in the opening 20 minutes, but then it ends up being an overly long mediocre episode, nothing more.

But it's still "The Simpsons," so let's not call it crap. Homer's joke in the beginning, "Why would I pay to see a movie about something I can see on TV for free?" rings true to the point where you really feel like nobody's gonna be mad if you choose to build a time machine and go two hours back to just sneak into this, as it really doesn't offer more than the half-hour Sunday nights of post-Simpson peaking that loyal fans have grown used to.
