Don Cheadle, Dr. Tom, Movie Review, Talk To Me
Don Cheadle portrays Ralph Waldo "Petey" Greene, the DJ of the late 60's who declared himself (and may have been right) too black for the day's America.

An ex-con who conned his way out of prison, he came to work as a morning talk show host in DC. Bringing a voice of the streets that hadn't been permitted to be heard before then, Greene became a prominent voice of black America during the civil rights movement, although his unwillingness to try connecting to anyone outside of his own race confined him to stand-up (and a limited audience).

Chiwitel Ejiofor (such a damn good actor, I even learned how to pronounce the name) joins Cheadle in an excellent cast, and while Greene himself may have been black entertainment that was mostly accessible to blacks, this movie is entertaining to anyone, a solid story that doesn't pull punches. While it is, at times, a weee-tidbit sappy, the overall fun tone it starts with keeps the sap from sticking much, and the story's emotional moments aren't lost.
