natureofproject: I've just realized that I've developed feelings for a girl that i've been friends with for the past 2 years. Perviously there has been nothing romantic between us, but now that we've started our freshman years at our colleges and are back on christmas break things have definatly changed between us. There is this energy between us and there is definate chemistry and feelings that haven't existed before. The problem is that we go to different colleges so a relationship is out of the question but this chemistry is undeniable. I'm at a total loss...i really do like her and every sign says that she has some feelings for me but i don't want a fling to damage our friendship.
Thanx for your email John.
The chemistry is there because you are both a bit older.
Go for it. You're not going to be friends with her in 2 more years anyway, so why not give it a whirl. If you do, then there's a good shot that you may be together in another 2 years.. but if not, you'll fall into the friend category, you'll both go away to your schools.. you'll start dating, she'll start dating and you'll end up wondering 'what if' or 'i should have' so take your chance now. You'll have your answer soon enough, and if you really are friends.. then trying to make a move isn't going to ruin anything. You're a man. Now go do what you're supposed to do!
