Hey, I need some advice. I'm going to my first year of university next year and I'll be living on residence. It's exciting, but I'll be leaving behind my boyfriend.  We're ending it- because; we have to, since I'll be four hours away. Thing is, I really don't want to end it. My friends are saying I'll forget about him and that I'll meet tons of new guys, but I can't forget him, and he says he wants to try to keep it going. What should I do?

Thanx for your email.  The thing is, you don't really have to end, but it certainly is a good idea.  I mean you can pretend that you'll see each other all the time, and that you'll call, visit blah blah...but it'll die a slow awkward death.  One of you will end up cheating on the other or whatever and feelings will be unnecessarily hurt.  Unnecessary because you should have split up before going away... So you are doing the right thing.  Not just because it's 4 hours away, in LA 4 hours away is about 30 miles... It's the right thing because you're way too young to worry about the stresses of a relationship, yet alone one that is in fact 4 hours away.  You may think he's the greatest guy in the world, that’s because you're world up until now has been so small.  You’re going to love being single going into University.  And yes, after a few beer bongs you'll soon forget all about him.  Not his existence but any romantic connection you have with him.

The fact that both of you have it together and realize that breaking up is the best thing to do, is a pretty good sign.  Maybe you'll hook up again in 4 years, maybe not.  But at least you're going to leave each other on high ground.
